Comments on proposed Return route from MI to TX

Just completed 1700 mile trip from South Texas to Algonac,MI and really did not like a lot of the roads from a gas Motorhome perspective (Routes 55, 20 around Shreveport, 69 especially in Michigan). Thinking of going home using I94 and 80 around Chicago;I55 to St Louis; I44 to Midwest City OK; I35 to Fort Worth and than 281 south. I am familiar with 281 once I am by Ft Worth but would appreciate thoughts and experiences on the 94, 80, 55, 44 and 35 from a gas Motorhome perspective. Thanks in advance for feedback.
  • We would get to I-57 SB in IL, down to Sikeston MO, then W on 62 to Poplar Bluff, then S on 67/I30 to Texarkana. From there we have gone multiple ways and always avoided Dallas and Houston areas. We have a gas motorhome and never had any problems with this route.
  • Samuel,

I doesn't pain me at all to tell you that Michigan's roads are abysmal. This is why I would suggest that you take 94 to 75 south to Toledo.
In short, get out of Michigan.
Look for gas once you get into OHIO.
There is a newer stretch of US24 that you can get from I-475 and that will take you to 469 at Fort Wayne.

We are now out of date for conditions of I-69 south from there.
