- darsbenExplorer IIThe NEXUS program allows pre-screened travelers expedited processing when entering the United States and Canada. Program members use dedicated processing lanes at designated northern border ports of entry, NEXUS kiosks when entering Canada by air and Global Entry kiosks when entering the United States via Canadian Preclearance airports. NEXUS members also receive expedited processing at marine reporting locations.
- DutchmenSportExplorerFrom the U.S. Customs and Border web site. Looks like it's needed only if you want the expedited advntage to re-enter the U.S. Passport should always be adequate to re-enter the U.S. That's it's purpose!

- Matt_ColieExplorer IIWe do this a lot as DW has family in Canada. A Nexus makes no difference. Not everyplace has the dedicated lanes for them. Detroit may have only one open. The last time through, we were held up an additional hour at Detroit Ambassador Bridge and I am quite sure it is because I am a published vocal critic of the administration. But, Detroit has always been a terrible entry point. In recent times it has gotten worse.
Matt - LFishExplorerAt the Peace Arch border crossing in Blaine, WA those with Nexus passes go through *much* quicker. There are dedicated Nexus lanes to and from the USA. Most people we know who have friends and family in Canada, or who shop there frequently, have a Nexus pass. But probably not worth it just for an occasional trip in your RV. Your passport or enhanced driver's license (available in some border states) is required.
- 4X4DodgerExplorer IIYour Passport is THE ULTIMATE travel document and will always trump all other systems. If it is valid it will always be accepted.
- dieharderExplorerThe only time Nexus is required is when using the Nexus line.
When driving with a group in the same vehicle, if one of you does not have Nexus, DO NOT get in the Nexus line at the border, if one exists. It's automatic grounds for you to be removed from the program. At the airport, the one that does not have the Nexus has to get in line with the others in the regular line, they can't follow you to the Nexus line just because they're traveling with you. - lakeside013104Explorer

This quote is correct.
All I would add is that some NEXUS lanes are time sensitive, meaning some POEs NEXUS lanes are open for short intervals (usually during the AM) allowing regular crossers who need to be at work in the US timely admission.
Lakeside - AllworthExplorer IIWe just came back South the end of August on Aut-15/I-78 from Montreal into upstate NY.
Passports, driver's license, and dog's shot record.
5 minute stop; three of which were spent discussing whether or not the Gators would have a decent season. - mileshuffExplorerIn practice you don't even need a US passport returning to the USA if you are a US citizen. While the official rules say you do, they cannot bar a citizen from entering as long as you can show proof. On our last trip in Oct. some members of our group only had a drivers license and birth certificate. No problem. You have passports so even better. Just go thru normal lanes rather than Nexus.
Related topic: For US citizens, why would a person get a Sentri pass instead of Nexus which is cheaper? Seems Nexus works in Sentri border lines as well as at airports to/from Canada and Mexico.
