Connecticut to New York - Liberty Harbor Marina New Jersey

I am sure someone from New York will chime in. I believe you are not allowed on parkways in new York state. They are for cars only. When we visited nyc we stayed at liberty harbor. I don't recall what we did after crossing the Hudson but it did involve several locat streets to get to the rv park, all negotiable. We took 95 all the way to the George Washington bridge. I suggest that you contact the rv park directly 201.516.7500

Be prepared for plenty of traffic on I-95 in Conn. and New York and the GW Bridge. From that point, I-95 will be the NJ Turnpike. It looks like your route has you exiting and picking up US 1&9 to Marin Blvd. It's doable, but heavy city traffic, narrow congested streets and stop lights.

I'd suggest going a little further South on the Turnpike and take the Northeast Extension to Exit 14C. After the exit toll both, you will be heading for the entrance to the Holland Tunnel and will be in about 8 lanes of traffic. Make your way to the right lane as soon as possible and watch for Marin Blvd. as a cross street. It's close to the tunnel entrance. From there, it's, again, a narrow city street, but straight into the campground in about 2 or 3 miles.

Stay away from anything called a Parkway in Conn. or NY. The Garden State Parkway in NJ is okay.

Will there be signs that you can't tow on the parkways?

The Cross Bronx "Expressway" and the GW Bridge are pretty miserable. If you can hit it on a Sunday morning, it is the most direct route.

You can avoid this by going I-95 to I-287 across the Tappan Zee bridge and then down the Garden State Parkway, then I-80 to the Turnpike. It's an around about way to go, but time and stress wise, it's worth it.

A very big weekend in NYC. 15 Naval Ships are there for Monday. You ain't seen nothing yet, if you haven't been to NYC on a holiday.P.S., unless you can travel at 3am. don't even go there. But if you do, you must have patience.Good Luck

That looks good to me. I changed the route on google maps and here is the route you suggest -

As a refugee from Megapolis, I can tell you that you don't want to pull any trailer anywhere on Manhattan.

When you see the signs for Greenwich, start looking for I-287 and cross the Hudson at the Tappen Zee. Now set you route request from Nyack to Liberty Harbor.

Be ready to decompress when you shut down.

No, this route is not what jplante4 suggested. Take I-95 in Connecticut to I-287 and continue over the Tappan Zee Bridge. Watch for signs for the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, (NOT the Palisades Parkway). He suggested the Garden State to I-80 and then take I-80 East to the NJ Turnpike.

I would suggest, if you are coming this route, continue on the Garden State Parkway to I-78. Take I-78 East and it turns into the NJ Turnpike. Go straight through the toll booth and you are on the Extension heading for Exit 14C.

I like this. I grew up in Newark, but none of these roads (except the Tpke) existing when I left in 1965.
