Crossing manana (at Columbia)

Hola folks,

Crossing tomorrow morning at Columbia. Any late breaking road condition reports to Quintana Roo?

How are the roads around Villahermosa? We have had problems around there before with flooding.

*Wondering if you can do the car permit at the 25km checkpoint or if you must do it at the border at Columbia.

We plan to overnight (at least) at:
Saltillo
San Miguel
Puebla
Villahermosa
Chetumal
Puerto Morelos (aka home)

This is a well worn route for us, but you can never count on road conditions, especially after rainy/hurricane season.

Thanks
Rob

  • We just crossed Columbia on Oct. 26- No problems at all. Similar route as you, to Merida. Lots of construction/road repair everywhere. Great stretches of good roads, then patches of roads full of potholes. It is all a blur now, so I can't remember where all the worst spots are, but seems every state had their share. Got hit up for a mordita at Campeche for having our dogs uncrated in the RV.
  • I have used that Pemex heading north. I'm curious about the new one being built heading south. We get about 250 Km between stops and other options are always good.
  • Hola, sorry I missed this about the Pemex station. We bought our gas right after the inspection station and it held us to Saltillo.

All went well at the border. Very quiet and there was a woman handling photocopies.

    Gracias

All paperwork is done at the border. Please let me know if the gas station being built in Jan. 2013 on mx85D between N. Laredo and Monterrey is open this year. Its a long stretch between stops on that route and the station in Monterrey was smallish and busy for a 35' fifth wheel.

We noticed a new Pemex open just North of Monterrey last March. Is this the one you are talking about? We always got fuel in Monterrey before the final push to the border and that Pemex was always very busy and sometimes tight to get to the diesel pump.

  • Let us know if the teachers strike on MX307 at Felipe Carrillo Puerto is still blocking the road.
