  • No, we haven't. Possibly we haven't visited appropriate sites, although we do visit historical sites regularly.

Others may know more. The article was fascinating.
  • If my memory still serves me.... Prior to the declaration of war. Germany tried to get Mexico to join them thru secret diplomatic dealings. Mexico instead provided the US with all the discussions and entered into their own negotiations with the US. When Germany's effort failed, they were not happy which led to the sinking's and refusal to apologize.

You're not that old. It was World War 1 in which Mexico and Germany were "near" an alliance if I recall correctly.
Perhaps those negotiations took place at both wars?

At any rate, Columbus, New Mexico was invaded by Pancho Villa with his army of 500+ in 1916
There is a fascinating documentation at the Columbus Historical Society Museum in Columbus. They had a corresponding book in the gift shop but it was sold out when I visited.
  • There are four military museums in Mexico.

Museo del Ejército y Fuerza Aérea Mexicanos “Bethlemitas” Mexico City

Museo del Ejército y Fuerza Aérea Guadalajara

Museo del Ejercito y Fuerza Aérea Puebla

Museo Militar De Aviación Zumpango, Edomex

Every year I post on my blog and FB about the 201st Squadron. Mexico played an important role just as did many other Latin American countries, mostly in accepting Jewish refugees.
  • AND The Naval museum in, of course, Veracruz. Pretty nice and the AC works fine in the entire building.
  • Tepetapan, sorry, I forgot to mention that. I don't know that museum. Looks like we need to visit.
  • We were there many years ago and enjoyed it immensely.

OK, isn't there a military museum at the fort in Acapulco?
  • McAllen, TX is the location of the Texas War Memorial. The Memorial is very large and occupies ground on the east side of the new convention center. This is an outdoor memorial and is quite impressive. The story of the Mexican 201st Squadron is told in great detail on one of the many granite stones that comprise the memorial.
