Day 5

Woke up this morning and checked out the campground we were in. Some would love it but it wasn't for us. Heavily wooded, dirt and gravel, unlevel sites, in the middle of nowhere. We had a leisurely breakfast and headed to Luray. Better to our likes! We have a campsite at the top of a hill overlooking farms and rolling mountainsides. We can watch the sheep, cows and horses in the pastures below us. I think we're going to hang here a couple of days.

We did something today that we don't usually do. Nothing! We ate, we napped, we read. It was a beautiful day and we did nothing but sit out and enjoy it! Tonight.... It is storming to beat the band!!! Torrential rains again! We are snuggled on the sofa watching "The Ultimate Gift". It it the ultimate sappy chick flick. So DW watches the movie and I write you folks. :)
  • I went to the KOA Luray website and saw some very nice pictures. I am starting to see a pattern with you and KOA. It also looked a little pricey. All things equal, is it your "go to" campground chain? Do you have any memberships in "Passport America" or others?

As a newbie(really, still just in my imagination), I would like to learn from your experiences!
  • Luray KOA. It's very nice and convenient to a number of attractions and parks we want to explore. Fortunately we aren't expecting any health crisis but this whole trip is part of our bucket list journey.
  • What is the name of the campground that you are in now? Would also love to see a picture!

Hopefully, you will not need the ambulance, but nice to know it is nearby! Nowhere is a great place to be, except in an emergency.
  • DW has some serious health issues. One is that she can't see down. It's hard to explain. She has had numerous surgeries on her eyes and has lost some peripheral vision. The sides are still good but she has lost some of the bottom and top of her vision. So she can't see the floor until about 8 feet in front of herself. Level works better or she holds my arm and I guide her. We are actually quite good that way but DW likes her independence as well. Also, it is better if we are someplace that an ambulance has good access. DW has a severe case of type 1 diabetes. There is nothing funnier than the reaction of people watching her walk with a white cane then get in our truck and drive. Yes, she can drive a truck perfectly because she doesn't need to see the peddles. LOL
  • I love secluded treed middle of nowhere gravel back road style parks. more room for me lol. enjoy your trip
  • Both parks sound pretty good to me! My girls like the full hookup parks, put me in the woods.

Ain't it great to have a nice warm TT to be in when it rains !!! That is one of things things I love most about mine.

I am one of those people that probably would have liked the first park better. To each there own.

    Thanks for the posts
