Dish Network on Mexico West Coast

Anyone pick up a Dish Network signal & how far down were you on the West Coast of the Mainland? With a normal house mount dish, in the past we were only able to get down to San Carlos. Beyond we used a 6' dish we carried in the Toyhauler but the Motorhome does not have that kind of room. So has there been any improvement or is it worse?

Thanks,

I would think it would have been better than that... Have never been down that way so only speculation on my part.

I do know the DISH NETWORK is on the equator and lined up with SanDiego. The DIRECTV Satellite is also on the equator but aligned up with TEXAS.

Maybe California is just too far west of the beam fpr Mexico... It would be interesting to see if DIRECTV works better...

Maybe some sort of spot beams are incorporated to limit operations outside the USA.

  • RoyB; The location of the satellite has very little bearing on signal strength. It is the footprint of the signal. Dish is US based so the footprint is concentrated in the US.

  • SIL had a bed and breakfast down in LaPaz, BCS and Dish Network installed. Never had a problem.

While of course this is not the MX mainland.
  • In 2006 a FOUR METER diameter dish obtained a signal strength of 49 on the coast of Michoacan. Folks tell me I would expect a signal strength of 5 today. I gave up.
