You could head down 27 to Haines City and pick up 17-92 and then 17 down to Punta Gorda where you'd get on 75. Some of the areas like Haines City and especially Winter Haven would have a lot of traffic lights and slower speed limits. But you would miss the Tampa traffic on 75.
