Dogs staying at No-Tell Motels

Don't know about No-Tell Motels or Mexico, but your statement is not true in most of the states. Last year we traveled with our large Golden across the U.S. and stayed at some very nice motels. Sometimes ground floor, second floor and once on the third floor of a really upscale motel chain. All non-smoking too, of course. Some required an additional charge having a dog.

With more people traveling with pets these days, I believe a lot of motels have become more accommodating.

We have stayed in several motels in Mexico through the years with our dogs. Never had our dogs (two weimaraners) turned down, but in one place, a very high end one, I had to speak with the manager, and offered to make a deposit for them. No deposit accepted, and we were given a ground floor suite with access to a fenced orchard behind, for the basic rate. Be flexible, friendly, and you'll do fine. You may be turned down a time or two, but more likely not.

No Tell Motels are not a flea bag hotel, some are very nice with indoor private pools, extra large whirlpool tubs and most include room service.
They usually have a 4 hour/8 hour/ all day rate. Cable TV and AC. All include private, indoor parking garage and most even have breath mints in the ash tray although a bit chewy and not much flavor from what I hear.
I have never heard of one not accepting dogs, you head straight to the first available garage, close the door and pay for the room via a lazy Susan. You don't see them, they don't want to see you.

The advantage with most no tell hotels is they generally have a garage to park the vehicle in, that is attached to the room. That way nobody can see if you have an animal that you take in the room for the night.We have never had a problem when we open the garage for the dog to do his business and we clean up after the animal We also don't leave the animal alone if we decide to go some where the dog goes with us.

The Choice Hotel chain, allows dogs in many of their hotels.
They have an app for android and apple, you can filter your search for pet friendly.
There is sometimes a fee for the dog, that ranges from $0 to $20, a few have size restrictions.
We have found that the size restrictions are flexible, we Travel with a 85lb Rottie mix.

We always get a non smoking room whether we have the dog or not and never had a problem.

Every one of their hotels we have stayed at the rooms were clean and very well maintained.

No-tell motel is a generic term used for low-end motels. Same as a fleabag hotel (pun intended).

As well as bed bugs, we have to worry about dog fleas and allergies?

Assuming the cheap motel HAS a phone and that you can speak Spanish.

I've only heard that phrase as a name for motels that charge by the hour.

Why would you want to pay by the hour if you are staying all night? And the ambiance may be... uncondusive to sound sleep.

Tripadvisor forums would likely be helpful for finding pet-friendly motels along your route.
