Driving from Brackley Beach PEI to Annapolis Royal NS

I am currently on a trip in the Maritime Provinces and I am thinking about driving from Brackley Beach PEI to Annapolis Royal NS in one day. That would be approximately 300 miles. While that really isn't that long a drive in the States, I am not so sure about doing that in Canada especially between those two points. So I am seeking information from individuals who are familiar with the roads I would be traveling. I will pulling a 5th W.

Thanks
Frank

  • Streets and Trips gives the following route after leaving PEI by the Confederation Bridge.
    Route 16 to Aulac NB.
    Route 2 to NS Border
Route 104 ( partly toll but reasonable cost)to Truro
    Route 102 towards Halifax
Route 14 cross country to Windsor
Route 101 to Annapolis Royal area.
have driven this route many times.
All of the routes are main routes and partially divided highways. Only the 20 mile section on Route 14 is small two lane country roads, but we had a rally two years ago in Windsor and 90 percent of the people attending drove this section of road with no problems. Very pretty drive.
    enjoy the Canadian Maritime Provinces.

No problem and it will be a nice drive.
  • Brackley Beach may be northern PEI, but the driving time is reasonable. & I don't really know. I'm going to guess 2 hours when you're not trying hard.

From Charlottetown to Halifax is 5 hours.

BTW. from N. Sydney, NS to QC is a day, and about 1,000 km.

I had a look at google maps in google.ca and they added kms galore by going almost all the way down to Halifax before turning west. My experience of Nova Scotia is that secondary roads have plenty of transport trucks on secondary roads. Or, IMHO, their route is a waste of time, gas, and $.
