driving from oklahoma to oregon (moving)

Good luck with the winds! I just drove New Mexico to Oklahoma and encountered terrible winds...I had to reduce my speed considerably...you may have a time limit, but be safe!!

It sounds like a money problem ? if your daughter is going to stay in the So.Oregon area you will come visit her so just take a 3 day trip to see Lake Tahoe and like I said before their are so many places to go see from So.Oregon,come visit and spend some time and go see things.

normally I would take the scenic route too...driving a moving truck guess I'll have to stick to the interstates. Oh well, there will be some sites I haven't seen before so maybe it will be a bit scenic.

If you stay on the Interstates suggested, and stop for gas anyplace it is available once you are down to a half tank, you should not have problems finding gas. Also, most any place you stop for the night there will be gas stations, so top off in the morning.

People who have trouble finding fuel in the west are those who run down close to empty after passing the station 50 miles back, and the next one is 70 miles ahead. Didn't believe "last services for 100 miles" sign.

When traveling on the cheap, I find consistently low prices and adequate facilities at Motel 6 and Super 8, sometime Budget Inn and Econolodge franchises, but the first is less consistent quality, the latter sometimes high. These motels are co-located usually with clusters of gas stations, convenience stores and restaurants, which you may not find at CGs with cabins.

Route? I'm coming up with I-35 to I-70 to I-25 to I-80, then US-95 and Oregon 140. If you want to stay on Interstates, I-80 to Sacramento and I-5 into Medford.

I would use a more scenic route avoiding major cities, but you have a time budget and need to use the faster Interstate system.

I am moving my daughter to medford then flying back so along the way I want to see what I can without going too much out of the way. I figured since we are so close to lake tahoe we should see it. You're right there is so much to see and do in southern oregon, I'm sure I'll be back to visit !

If you are moving to Medford Lake Tahoe is a nice trip form here, Tahoe can be real busy with a lot of traffic. Living in So. Oregon you have so many places to go ( Reno, Tahoe, Mt. Shasta, Mt.Lassen NP. and the coast and a lot more.)
Suasnville to I5 is your eases way to Medford.

I live in Oregon and have taken this way a few times and like it, but their is no gas for over 200 miles ( Lakeview, Oregon to Winnemucca, Nv.),don't rely on gas at Denio, NV. If you had a break down it's a long time getting help and cell service can be spotty at times.
Can you change a flat tire or do some minor repairs? I would take the main Hwys. so you can get help if needed.
