Dunnellon to Baldwin FL route advice

Has anyone traveled from Dunnellon to Baldwin FL on route 301? We are heading to I-95 and want our first stop to be near Baldwin or Bryceville area?

We want to pick up 95 well north of Jacksonville. We hate traveling near the cities!

Thank you for your help and advice.

A good route, as said watch your speed. We have traveled that route many times and if going on to I-95 I have found I prefer to continue on 301 to Callahan and then get on A1A to 95. You avoid the traffic on I-10 and where it meets I-295 and then the congestion on I-295.

    Best route.

By the way Waldo no longer has their own police dept, but the county still patrols.
  • There is a TA stop at 301 and I-10. The best route is to stay on 301 all the way to I-95. If you take I-10 to I-95 you will have to fight all the city traffic and it is about 1o miles further.

  • Easy but boring route. Getting through Starke can be slow sometimes but not hard. Obey the speed limit and you will travel worry free.
  • We've traveled that route many times. In Waldo strictly watch your speed, while not a speed trap the Waldo cops do hand out a lot of tickets. Lawty a bit further along 301 is a real speed trap. It's so bad that the governor paid for billboards to be erected with warnings about the speed trap. And the state road dept put up signs with flashing lights. Fortunately the town only controls a short span of 301 but be extra careful there.

Otherwise 301 is a good 4 lane highway with moderate amounts of traffic.
