Durango, CO to Albuquerque?

Question

Hi everyone,We are planning to travel from Durango, CO to Albuquerque, NM in the next week and are looking for advice on the best route to take.  US 550 appears to be the most direct route, however our Good Sam map doesn't indicate that's an RV-friendly road.We are in a 40 DP with a toad -- can anyone with experience let us know whether that's a do-able route for us?  If not, what's the best alternative?Thanks in advance for your help.

Just did that drive about two weeks ago with a 33' 5r.  Nice drive and the most direct route.

We have driven that route at least once a year for the last eight years with our 39' MH and Jeep. Good easy drive and the most direct route.

We've done that route many times with a 40' motorhome hauling a toad with no difficulty.  Good road and usually not much traffic.

550 south of Durango is a very good route for a big rig.  Also, if you head east to Pagosa Springs (soak in the wonderful pools) and then pick up Hwy 84 south, it's a beautiful drive, too - through the painter, Georgia O'Keefe's area. Abiququi Lake COE is a good park for big rigs. Check out Santa Fe and stay at Santa Fe Skies. It depends if you want to do anything inbetween Durango and Albuquerque.  Have a good one!
