Head on over to the Pine Country Inn for breakfast. Excellent! While there grab one of their home made pies or if they don't have what you like, order it to pick up later. You won't be disappointed! Be sure to check out Bearizona too! Zip line in town is fun as well.

With a tremendous amount of suggestions, a year and a half ago, my dog and I set off from Barstow to east of Oklahoma City...on 66. I loved it!! We had a huge thunderstorm that followed us, but, what's a little rain! The little towns, all the 66 "stuff"...loved it all. Most of it was doable in my 24' RV. Thank you to all those who gave me such valuable insight!! :)

We ran that from Jolin IL to Albuquerque for the balloons. What a trip. Still want to do it again. Buy the EZ book before you go.

Some of the old 66 is quite desolate and has no services. ON the other hand, there is quite a lot of historical stuff to see and experience. One of the little known places in AZ is the Caverns of the Grand Canyon. Its a dry cave and the tour takes about an hour.

A number of towns here in the L.A. county claim to be the end of route 66. Personally I don't know if the actual end is really known, but Santa Monica is as far west as you can get. We live about 1/4 mile from the present 66.
