I just got an email from a longtime friend in EP. They finally got cell service back. Internet is still down for most of the area. There are a few hotspots available including the visitor center.
Hwy 7 has been reopened via I70 to Blackhawk. Only open for emergency, official and local residents. Semis carrying food and supplies made it into town. So, Safeway has basics. However, no milk or bread is available in town. No gasoline tankers have made it yet. All gas stations have run out of gas. Yesterday, Larimer County Sherriff was urging locals to conserve gas by not driving around looking at damage.
As with many disasters, there is lots of misinformation and rumors. The best place to get information is https://www.facebook.com/larimersheriff. The Sherriff posted a 54 minute video aerial survey of damage focusing mostly on roads. The damage is staggering.
Town officials in a meeting yesterday told business owners it may be several weeks before tourists are allowed back in town.
