I don't see the point of checking the power with a meter. Obviously if the power is changing there is no guarantee that it's not too high or too low an hour later. Someone above just stated that the EMS keeps kicking off and on so in that case things must be changing.
I'm using my EMS from Progressive and if it keeps going off and on so be it. If it becomes a real hassle, then I fire up the Honda when and if I really need DC power.
Actually what is likely happening is that, say the EMS, is sitting at the high end of the designed voltage. The voltage goes up 1 or 2 volts and it kicks off.
After going on 11 years I have seen the voltage here vary by 4 volts max. A very stable electric service, its just that all the money spent buying a product made for the US and Canada is not what it takes to run in Mexico. Nothing more than a design fault that could easily be corrected for a couple dollars.
Well it's your money so you can choose to do what ever you like . Personally I would rather trust the EMS and not guess it may only be a few volts out one way or the other.
I do a lot of camping without AC so it's not a big deal to go without. I know many have gone without protection for years but I'm more on the cautious side.
