I am not sure which NUVI you have or what the settings are. Sometimes they can be set up by distance from a certain point - so if you are not close enough the place you look for may not appear. Not all NUVIs do the same thing. There are many models. If the hotel does appear when you get closer it may be your settings or something to do with that particular model. If the hotel is on the list it should show up. Many places are not listed because someone has to tell Garmin or whoever provides the data that they are there. Many places are simply not listed. But if they are listed then I could be something to do with settings and distance. I just fooled around with my Streets & Trips (not my NUVI) and set from my location to 1 mile out and got one hotel - changed my setting to 50 miles out and got 482 hotels. Yesterday we were looking for a store with NUVI - we knew there were two in the area - NUVI only had one - and it was the one that is further away - S&T did not have either one of them. No GPS is perfect and maybe they never will be. We do the best we can with what we have. Imagine if we did not have any of this technology. When I drove trucks all over 48 states 30 years ago all I had was an atlas with maps of each state - no city maps - and no local streets. I had to stop and go to a pay phone and call to get directions. For almost 10 years of driving I found my way everywhere I had to go without a GPS. Now I can't seem to find my way around the block without my GPS. I used to be very good at math until they invented the pocket calculator and computers - now I rely on devices and my brain has ceased to function as it once did. But when I really need to I can find the math I need somewhere back there in my brain. Technology is a great help but we need to remember to use the old brain sometimes too.
