  • Leslie. I updated my Nuvi Garmin before we headed down and still had a lot of problems. I have found that you cannot rely on it solely. I have gotten myself in many bad situations because I was believing the Garmin instead of a good Roja map.
It still is very handy especially if you use the exact latitude and longitude of the place you want to find ,it but the road system here in Mexico has has not been inputted at the same level as Can/Us and I think it is because of the lack of advertising revenue to Garmin here.
Take care. Breakfast at Esmeralds is great eh. They really have cleaned the place up. See you at the Tienges Manana.
  • You probably just need to download the maps for Mexico. Garmins are really nice but they have a very sneaky planned obsolescence scheme. They typically put only enough memory in the device to hold the current maps, then over time they update the maps which you can buy and install on your Garmin - if you have the room. Otherwise you either have to manipulate the maps and select only parts of them so they'll fit, or you end up buying a new Garmin with slightly more memory and newer maps.

BTW, Kenwood makes in-dash radio/GPS units that use Garmin. I asked them if they had enough memory for future maps and they told me, "Yup, we have enough memory to hold any future maps Garmin releases." Yeah, and I've got a bridge I'd like to sell ....
  • We have a Garmin that was given to us. It was for the US and Canada. We downloaded some software from the Garmin web site for Mexico.
