and if that is the stretch I am thinking about, most of those lanes have painted arrows/I numbers, etc. on them which you can almost read at 55mph.
bumpy - mikensallytExplorerJust take a rest stop before entering Houston, relax, fill up the vehicle with gas though (LOL). Try to avoid the early morning and evening rush hour. Houston has lots of traffic and there is no way around it. A lot of it is due to rubber necking around wrecks and such. Grin and bear I say. Just take your time and let them cut in front of you because they will :) So far (knock on wood) I've had no problem driving (accident free) with my class A thru it. If you need to once you get through Houston, pull over and just let it all out. Whew, but their traffic is heavy. WOW. I10 is the best route out though.
- Houston_RemodelExplorerThe advice is correct, just stay on I-10.
We have major accidents all the time. It's a lottery if you'll be impacted, but not enough to worry about. Just enjoy what little scenery there is.

Most days if you can get there just before noon its a little easier.
Going east or west we try to get there about 11:00 A.M. - midnightsadieExplorer IIjust slow down pick a lane and watch all the idiots rush by.
- GolfcartExplorerThere's really no good way to go due to amount of miles(and traffic) you would have to take detouring around
What I do when i know im going to hit ugly traffic/busy roads is plan a food/rest stop right before I get into it. ITs amazing how less frustrating traffic is on a full stomach - Bank_of_DadExplorerHow about plan B. Not sure Sunday will work.
- BumpyroadExplorerIIRC on the West side of town the left lane becomes HOV or somesuch so don't get stuck in it. I took the 610 beltway once and had a lot of construction.
bumpy - midnightsadieExplorer III did the sunday thing, could not beleave how easy it was.
