Gilbert AZ to Pinetop -Cyclone Lake
Looking for feedback on the best route from Gilbert area to White Mountains, specifically Cyclone Lake area. Through Payson, or through Globe? Thanks!

I prefer the Payson route. Easier drive and far more scenic in my opinion. You'll be out of the hot desert and into cooler forest lands much faster. From Payson on you're in the mountains.
Highway 87 is mostly 4 lane. 260 is 2 lane with frequent passing lanes except for a stretch up the mogollon rim 1/2 way to Heber which is 4 lane.
