I’m picking up my Cyclone 4100 King Friday. 2 of my buddies told me I will not have any problem pulling it. I have a 2011 Ram 2500 4x4 diesel. A guy I work with pulls his 40’ Raptor with his 2007 Chevy 2500 with no problem. I will be pulling in Louisiana and may do the Disney World thing I’m sure. Did I over load my truc for my first camper?
well...lets look at the numbers for the 4100 King and compare them to my real world situation towing a Heartland Big Horn 3055RL. Usually it is a no no to use dry weights for determining the ability to stay within a trucks published weight ratings. However, in my experience, Heartland is quite accurate in reporting the dry weights of their product. My 3055RL was actually 75 pounds lighter than the factory number and the propane tanks were full. I have been told this is not unusual for Heartland products. In this comparison, it will not matter.
The 4100 King has a published dry weight of 14,595 pounds and a GVW of 18,000 pounds. With a 20% pin weight, there will be approximately 2920 pounds of pin, with an empty trailer.
My 3055RL has a published dry weight of 10,975 pounds. For this discussion, I will use the loaded weight of my trailer. Ready to travel it weighs 13,025 with a pin weight of 2400 pounds, just under 20% of loaded weight.
Why is this important? Because I pull the 3055RL with a F350 CC SB 4x4 with a GVW of 11,500 pounds. I am very close to my ratings...and my GVW is considerably higher than the OP's Dodge. The 4100 King will certainly have a pin weight in excess of 3200 pounds. It is likely that the Dodge will be overloaded bt more than 1000 pounds...
Will it pull that trailer down the road...of course...but should that trailer be pulled with that truck...nope
Dually country for sure
