Help me decide which route

I'm heading from central Ohio to stay at King's Mountain campground in SC for a couple of weeks while working in Rock Hill. I work there frequently but decided to pull my 35ft 5th wheel down this trip since I will be there for 2 weeks straight this trip. I will be traveling and towing alone this trip.

Simple question. Some mapping apps choose I75/Rt40 thru Ashville to get there, other apps choose the WV turnpike/I77 thru Charlotte route. Both routes are within about 20 total miles of each other. I've driven both routes and prefer the WV turnpike. However, that was NOT towing. Anyone think of reasons to choose one over the other?

Thanks.
  • WV turnpike/I77 thru Charlotte route for me. Actually around Charlotte on I-485.

  • We took I-75 from Charlotte project to the Twin Cities one in MN last year. The oncoming side got stuck in the I-40 mess of traffic accident. It slowed our side down some, but noticed that RV Parks north of Knoxville were few and far between, and kind of on the Yuck side.

We've also taken I-77 up through NC and the WV tolls a couple of years ago on the way to Vienna, WV. They are quick and don't really slow you down. Plus, they don't charge extra for RV's. There was a nice WV Rest Area that had good parking and Burger King among other restaurants. Don't remember anything nice about I-75 except the horse farms.

    Less tolls using I-75.

Yeah I thought about the tolls but it only looks like less than $3 toll at each stop. I will hit 3 of them this route.
