Highway 59 out of Hurricane, Utah

We would like to try a few new highways on our way south this Fall. Can anyone tell me if a 43' motorhome and tow will be too large for the following highways? Ut #59 from Hurricane, Ut. Az. #389 to Kanab, Ut, Ut #89 to Page, Az and then on to Flagstaff, Az.
  • There was a landslide on US89 south of Page. The detour is either US89A via Jacob Lake or Indian route 20 east of Page. As it will take some time for the landslide to be repaired, Indian Route 20 has just been paved as a long term detour. See

  • Have driven/towed this route, both directions annually for the last 3-4 years. You will do just fine but currently - watch out for high winds!
  • Took this same route 2 yrs. ago with my 5th wheel, 50ft. overall,no problem at all. Very scenic all the way. Crossing the Glen Canyon bridge into Page is a spectacular site. I'm going back to that area this winter. Enjoy the ride.
One last note, maybe check the tunnel area around Zion, they've had road problems with all the rains.
  • Fine - stop at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary just north of Kanab about 4 miles.
  • Did it last year with a total length of 53'. Most of it is an easy drive & VERY scenic. You won't have any problems. A couple of places will be slow but very doable. We will be going again. Stop at Coral Pink Sand Dunes Park, just North of Kanab.
