Yes it is crazy isn`t it!. last year we came back from Niagara Falls. we stopped at Cedar Point, and then in Elkhart IN. IN. was the worst and then PA, followed by NY. I`m sure IL would`ve been up there, but I know my way around IL and can avoid the IL tolls and still arrive within 15 min. of a different toll paid route! I don`t remember off hand, but I think we ended up paying around $75 in tolls for the entire return trip!
When we go to WI. I take the back roads. saves me about $15 or so one way. that $30 can go to gas, food or a night at a campground. save that over many trips and it`s a huge savings! I`m already paying for the roads in the fuel and license taxes. I`m not paying any more to use what I`m already paying for!
