How far South is 'south'?

Ditto on that. I see that the western states are already getting up to 12 inches of snow over the next day or two. If I wanted to reduce the amount of snow on the roads that I crossed I'd aim more to the east where the altitudes are lower.
It's impossible to predict snow this far ahead of time. I haven't seen any winter 2015 forecasts yet. Ah here is one:

That one is already out the window since the upper west it has marked as warmer and less snow is the region getting 12" right now. And of course 'warmer' in Montana means a whole different thing than in Florida. Maybe -10F instead of -30F.
