Hwy 1 north of the bay area vs. big sur?

In my opinion, Highway 1 north of the bay is the most scenic portion of the road. It also has the most windy part and the only part I haven't taken my motorhome on the stretch between the Golden Gate and Pt. Reyes. And that is mainly to avoid the section between 101 and Stinson Beach. That is probably the narrowest and most windy section, while also being the most crowded since it's so close to SF. But if you're in a Class B I wouldn't hesitate to drive that section of it. And if you're only going one way on highway 1, take it from north to south. All the turn outs and places to stop for photos and everything else is on the ocean side of the road. If you're going south to north you're either going to be pulling over and trying to walk across the road, or you'll have to try and make a lot of left turns near blind corners and what you'll end up doing is just not stopping.
