Hwy 441 Sevierlle TN To Cleveland GA

Planning on attending the TN Good Sams Samboree in Sevierville, TN next fall. After we leave the Samboree we would like to go to Cleveland, GA. We would like to take 441 all the way down to hwy 115 in GA then over to Cleveland, GA. In looking at the route it looks like the section between Gatlinburg and Cherokee might not be do able. Were pulling a 37ft fifth wheel with a one ton dully diesel. Truck not a problem, we just might be to big for this section of hwy. Steep hills and and tight turns don't bother me. But sometimes it might not be a good idea. Can always head over to I40 from Sevierville and then down to hwy 74 then back over to hwy 441 and down. Any thoughts and suggestions?? All so it's only about 150 miles but most likely a long day on a slow road.

  • I can see a flat lander (nutten but respect) being intimidated by the mountain roads. But if you really don't want to go that route take I40 east and skirt the park to the east and come around thru Maggie Valley
  • I've done that route in a car. There's absolutely no way I'd do it in my motorhome.
  • Not a problem lots of RV make that drive everyday. Speed limit is like 30 so speed is not an issue. Your only looking at 35 miles
  • I don't see a problem with you towing over 441 from Gburg to Cherokee. I see all sorts of RV's on that route. I would suggest that you take a dry run over to Cherokee. Most likely you will be wanting to see that side anyway. Then you can decide for yourself.
  • We just left there a month ago and took 74. I wouldn't take our Class A and toad from Gatlinburg to Cherokee. Can you do it? Probably. But it takes much longer and more stress. Even in our toad we took 74. On the weekends lots of traffic.
