What do you enjoy?

What are you driving?

Is there a Mission and a time of Year this will be Happening?

Personally - there is just so much to do, it is almost impossible to drive more than a Few miles before wanting to just get out and Explore.

I-70 getting Off on RT 24 - Minturn - Red Cliff - Camp Hale - Leadville - Twin Lakes - RT 82/Independence Pass - Buena Vista - Collegiates - Cottonwood Pass/CR 306 - Arkansas River - Salida - Then out on RT 24 to Cheyenne State Park. Just that drive Would/could/will take a couple of Weeks. :)

if possible catch Black Canyon NP

The visitor center was closed this summer, may be open now. The park itself is open so you can look around.

Hwy 50 will be open only for 2 hours in the early morning, an hour at noon, and 2 hours in the evening. It is planned to be open all weekend. Best to plan a different route for the next couple of years.

Definitely watch out for the heaves 20 or so miles out of GC. Reminds us of traveling through the Yukon and Alaska.

Hwy 50 will be open only for 2 hours in the early morning, an hour at noon, and 2 hours in the evening. It is planned to be open all weekend. Try the Mexican restaurant on the river in Salida. Great view, food, drinks.

But to answer OP: GJ to Montrose is flat, mostly agriculture country. Montrose to Gunnison is mostly mountain highway, but good surface, and no difficult climbs.

Much was repaved this summer - great drive - one note that as you cross the Desert you will catch some major heaves in the roadway - if possible catch Black Canyon NP - if you continue on to Salida be sure all is well as Monarch Pass is real.

Beautiful! Easy! About 125 miles in 2 hours and 16 minutes for a car. That's about 55 mph average, so with an RV...piece of cake.
