Hwy 97 from Biggs Jct to Redmond

How is this road for a 40' motorhome towing? I've traveled 97 south of Redmond quite a bit but never this section.

  • Agree with above. In the little town of Grass Valley there is a "city park" in the center which we use to stop and have our lunch. Handy and quiet.

I agree with Old Guy. Pull over if you are holding back the traffic. May are driving way faster they their ability.

The speed limit was 55, but is now 65.

For a nice break; stop in Shaniko (just norh of Madras)

    Yes!!!!!
Just made this trip last week moving to Idaho.... And in August and September.
Have never stopped in Shamiko, or any of the other little stops.
Maybe 1/3 of the way to Biggs Junction from the Rest Stop is a pullover that is a mountain identifier. On a clear day a worthy stop.
  • Thousands of RVs, many first time renters, would have climbed that route to get to Madras for the eclipse viewing.

  • Steep climb out of the Columbia River Gorge, road is a little narrower then most of US 97
    Improves up on top.
