As dunebuggydoug mentioned, there is heavy construction at the east edge of Memphis. Also, there is construction on the I-40 bridge as you enter Memphis. You might want to consider taking the I-55 bridge across, then go a short distance on the southern I-240 loop, and exit northbound to rejoin I-40 and proceed east on the north 240 loop. You will still hit the eastbound construction at the 240/I-40 junction. Try to avoid rush hour.
