I-5 in Cali. north of Redding
Has been a number of years since I've been on the I-5 in northern California and have been on other routes instead. The stretch of I-5 from near Oregon to around Redding was built with concrete slabs and they settled over the years causing an inch or two in vertical difference between slabs. That was hard on tires and I've had 3 car tires damaged in the past from broken cords from the many miles of thump, thump, thump....
We were chatting with some folks from Cali. in a CG recently and they said the freeway has been repaved. Is that true?
In a couple of weeks we're going through Oregon and down to near Santa Cruz on the I-5 and the ST tires on our trailer aren't designed for that kind of abuse and the last thing I want is a blowout as a result. If we need to slow down, we'll also need to factor that into the trip calculations.
