Ok, ok, ok - if you want some criticism...
STOP being so helpful, so we can keep this beautiful state to ourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:B
I got here in 1998 and had I know just what a wonderful place this was, I'd have made a beeline here sooner. - edm3rdExplorerFrom a Tennessee flat-lander (Memphis) but a regular Colorado visitor, just downshift on steep/long down hill grades so that little (or ideally) no braking is required - ie you are basically coasting and not losing speed without using the gas petal. I am always amazed at the number of vehicles on the interstate (mostly out of state plates)in CO that have their brake lights on much of the time. Save your brakes for an emergency.
- Thom02099Explorer IIOh my... Big Time Blushing.
Thanks to all for your very kind words, it's greatly appreciated.
All of my life...my 40 year career in Public Safety, and my personal beliefs, I have been motivated by a desire to help others in whatever way I can. I believe in giving back to the community...this community...whenever I can. That others see and appreciate this is all a man can ask for.
To oldtrojan66/OP...hope you have a wonderful, safe trip to and through Colorado! - filrupmarkExplorerWe could sure use more post like Thom02099 . Kudos to you Thom. That's what this site is all about.
- LaurenExplorerI used to live in Estes Park but did not have a connection with Thom then -though we lived about 1/2 hour of so apart. I wish I had known him. What you don't know is that Thom and I have become good friends with Private Messages. We bounce things back and forth and he is immensely helpful there as well.
God willing, we will be in CO a lot next summer (and trying some new places so picking Thom's brain) and I hope we can cross paths.
Most of us on here try to be completely honest and I put Thom at the top of that list.
Thank you, my unseen (yet) friend!

Once again, Thom is right on.
Have driven it several times - it is steep ups and downs so watch the hills, you speed and your brakes - downshift going down on the high passes.
Beautiful, beautiful drive!pconroy328 wrote:

We're lucky to have him!
I also follow all of Thom's post as his directions are "Spot on" Not just in Colorado but across the country.
The Forum and Colorado are fortunate to have two of the most informative and detailed members with Thom and Ken.
Thanks, always a pleasure to read these posts,
Bill - Thom02099Explorer IIThanks Lauren, kknowlton, and pconroy328 for your vote of confidence! It's nice to be able to help others passing through our beautiful Colorado. Glad we have a resource such as this forum to answer questions and pass along information.
- brooks379ExplorerPretty ride but it can be about as crowed as Denver at times.
