- pauljExplorer IIInteresting; in January no less. I've seen snow flurries at Lost Trail in June.
The lodge just north of the pass, which caters to skiers using the summit runs has a hot springs pool. That still had it's winter dome cover. - MurphsmomExplorerhttp://mtstandard.com/news/state-and-regional/megaload-rumbles-into-the-state-from-lost-trail-pass/article_80ab853c-826e-11e3-aca4-001a4bcf887a.html

I've read about mega-loads on US12, Lolo Pass, but not Lost Trail. 12 runs from the 'sea port' at Lewiston (barge traffic up the Snake). But other than one or two test runs they ended up using I90 for most of the refinery parts.
Here is an article about one of the runs. I messed up the link and got it at the top of the reply. - pauljExplorer II

Looks like it will be Hwy 75 through the Sawtooth Natl Rec Area and looking fwd to the views...... - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIYou won't have any problems with your motorhome. We've done it often with our 40'. Stanley has some great forest service campgrounds!
- MurphsmomExplorerThey took some of those mega-loads over Lost Trail. There are some switchbacks with tight turns, but it isn't something you would need to avoid.
Galena Summit also has a few tight turns, but the view is breathtaking. I say take it easy and go for it. Wave as you go through Stanley! - WE-C-USAExplorerWe've traveled 75 several times, both north and south of Stanley. North of Stanley the road follows the river, some twists and turns, along the river, but nothing to be concerned about. I can't remember any problems while heading south from Stanley to Twin Falls. 93 may be a faster route if you're in a hurry. 75 is a scenic highway for a reason. We plan on being on it in Sept or Oct, on a trip to Oregon.
- kknowltonExplorer IILost Trail Pass is definitely high, quite a climb and quite a descent. We did it with our rig (see sig), southbound, last summer. Lots of switchbacks. Nice rest area at the top. Haven't been on 75 yet, but I don't think it would be any more of a challenge than Lost Trail.
- JohndanielscpaExplorerLast year, I drove between Ketchum and Stanley over Galena summit with a long bed, crew cab DRW diesel F350 connected to a 102" wide, 30' fifth wheel with no problem. The road seemed to be standard width, but there were a few spots you need to watch your speed as the "drops" will push you a bit.
- pauljExplorer IIThe rec route is through the Rec Area, isn't it? But what do you want to see or avoid?
There is a pass (Galena?) between Ketchum and Stanley. I been through Stanley several times, but never over that pass. Stanley to Salmon is all downhill - following a fork of the Salmon River, until it turns west.
US93 has another pass, Lost Trail, on the state border. I think that's higher than the 75 one.
