Reason being that the RCMP wouldn't drive through Hyder ( USA) to get to that part of BC so they didn't have to worry about the Cops breaking up the parties, kids eh?

Sounds like pretty smart kids to me.
Back in the day we would go to a buddy's remote barn and lock the gate once everyone was inside. Kept the local police out and the drunks inside the fence. Still didn't keep one guy from slamming a tree while head into back to the road!
