That's fine for keeping your Cdn health coverage but also just be aware that to do that you need to purchase a multi-trip option on your travel medical insurance (assuming you intend to purchase out-of-country insurance). If you purchase single trip coverage and fly home your coverage ends and you are not covered when you fly back. You probably know this already too.
