As of today, having wandered thru the many posts on this subject, this is what I think I know.
Shaw will no longer provide you tech support if you indicate that you are outside Canada (this does not mean that you won't get a signal outside Canada).
For the time being (another five years or so until the the main Shaw sats time out), you will still have the vast majority of channels that you have traditionally had south of the border if you don't change anything.
If you want access to the new satellite now in operation, then the game changes and you need to update the LNB on your dish and download new software for your receivers. Neither are particularly onerous , BUT all of your receivers and dishes need to be on the same program.
If not, you become a part of the new Shaw "Home away from Home" policy that used to be free but will require you to pay (as an existing customer, an additional 50% on our account or as a new customer, 70%)!
So change nothing, or change all. For now at least, there's nothing critical (at least for me) on the new sat that isn't replicated elsewhere.
The strategy that you use to evolve kinda depends on your scenario and how you choose to manage that is up to you.
Bottom line, if you're a Snowbirder and have a system that works...why change?
