Donna, please don't take what I said as anything but a heads-up, namely a "highway" on a map is not necessarily what us in the more civilized parts of the country as a highway.
For the western / central section ( ~320 miles) from Happy Valley / Goose Bay west to the Quebec border will likely take you 12 hourss, and other than a couple of small villages there's nothing along the way.
If you start at Blanc Sablon, if you decide to turn around when you get to the older sections, it's a looooong way back.
Theres no doubt it IS beautiful scenery, bo your research first.
