Came through the Ice Fields last summer, you're right about trucks on that portion, but it's still not that far between diesel stops.
And when in Revelstoke, go to the train museum. They let us stay in the lot for two nights. The museum isn't large, but it's nice. Inside they have a very nice steam locomotive. If you see the sign stating that the Engineer Is In, then one of the old engineers that actually used to run the locomotive is there that day to answer questions.
And a few miles away is one of the upper hydro dams on the Columbia. It's not one of the larger ones since it's on the upper river, but still nice to go see. Leave your MH in the train museum lot and take your toad up to the dam.
