Last Gary update

Until I screw up next time, of course.

Leg/ankle is much much better. I don't use any walking aids now. I still limp along and by days-end the swelling is pitiful.

But...the RV is sitting out front and ready. I have a wee trip planned into the wilderness south of Vanderhoof.

I'll need spare fuel cans for this.

So...to those that sent messages of goodwill...I am grateful and I thank each one of you. Some of you I am corresponding with on E mail or pm's here and I look forward to face to face meetings. Have a great season and stay off ladders.

Glad to hear you're on the mend. As you probably know, elevating that leg as much as possible will make all the difference in the swelling.

Yes...and when it comes to time to do any house cleaning, I am quick to point out the swollen part and insist I get it up. My days of escaping appear to be numbered.

FYI, you might ask your PT if it is better to limp or to walk with a normal gait even if that means using a cane. When I was injured, I developed some problems later that were a result of limping, and were pretty serious.

Yes...thank you. Limping is a no no. When I get tired, I tend to do that. When I am walking, I really do have to do it consciously..ensuring I use the injured side fully...heel, foot, toe.

The PT people see me everyday and I am not being spanked. Thanks for your thought.

Hey, Gary, this is great news! Are you going by yourself? Or are you bringing that amazing nurse, just in case you need some wilderness rehab?

Either way, have fun! I am looking forward to your trip report.

So far..solo, although I am trying to tempt a feller from Baton Rouge to come up. I expect he'll have to ask mom and she'll say no....

It's big country with big moose and bigger bears. Hopefully..big fish too. And no lights...so, maybe some nice stars. As if I know anything about stars. Someone says..'oh, look..the Milky Way'...I'm thinking yummy bar.

Hopefully your summer will be filled with good hikes.

  • Have a great trip Gary! Try to rest that leg and enjoy the view while you're there.
