  • If you want an enjoyable ride with quiet countryside views. After you go over the Delaware Memorial bridge look for the signs for RT 1 south Dover and follow it south to Rt 113 south. This eventually joins back up with 13 south without all the lights and small towns. Go over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and follow the signs to 58 west to Emporia VA. It will take maybe an hour longer than 95 but No Baltimore or Washington and Suburbs. You may opt to take 17 south out of Virgina Beach all the way to Myrtle Beach, it is not a bad road and beats highway travel all the time. Good luck and enjoy the trip. I will be going that way in a couple of months on the way to Florida.
  • We take I-81 South to I-66E just South of Winchester, VA, and head East to pick up U.S. 17 South near Marshall, VA. You'll get on I-95 at Fredericksburg. It avoids all of the big cities and is an easy run through the Virginia countryside. Has worked the best for us for many years now.
  • Leave at 0400 on a Sunday taking 95 to 695 West around Baltimore. Going west is just about the same distance, and there is no toll. Camp on!

That's the way I would go....95 south is like an endless stretch of the LIE at rush hour.

    GWB to 80W then 81S.

I see you're in Mastic Beach, we bought all 3 of our trailers from Grand Am.

  • There a a lot of ways and a lot of different answers but if you like 95 then the Francis Scott Key Bridge (695) would be the short answer.
  • Well , there are many ways to go.. If it were me I would do the following:
Cross the outer bridge crossing into NJ and hop on the NJ turnpike south..
If you can , take it all the way south and cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge into DE..
Hop on 95 south and keep on trucking.. Once you get close to Baltimore , look for signs for 695 EAST.. Francis Scott Key Bridge... take 695 across the bridge and follow back to 95 south below Baltimore

    follow to Florida.. ----OR---

If you want to avoid the big cities all together you can do the following:
follow directions above into DE on 95 south.. Once on 95 exit onto DE rt 896 south... follow to 896/301 south.. follow 301 to 50 west.. cross the Bay Bridge and stay on 50/301.. look for signs for 301 south in Bowie MD... take 301 south all the way down to 207.. that is the bowling green bypass.. take it to 95.. that will drop you on 95 at mile marker 104.. which is about 30 miles north of Richmond VA..
