Loudon NH to Croton on the Hudson NY

You should be fine. Rte 9 in Fishkill, where you will exit I84 is 3 lanes for a short distance and then single lane. North towards Poughkeepsie Rte 9 is 3 lanes.

I don't travel south on Rte 9 a lot but I can't remember any issues. As long as you are shorter than 13' you will be fine.

Whatever you do, DO NOT accidently get on the Taconic State Parkway! It has signs stating "passenger cars only" and they mean it. A lot of low bridges and twisting 2 lanes with bumper-to-bumper traffic at rush hour (doing 80 mph) starting at 5am.

Yep. The dam is on the list of sights to visit.

I can't help you on the bridges - it has been a 40 years since I've been in the area and I know they have improved Rt 9. I grew up in Croton on Hudson. If you get a chance, drive out to the Croton Dam (without the trailer). An impressive structure with a nice park below. I don't believe you are allowed to drive across it anymore; we used to fly model airplanes off the face of the dam...
