Louisville

From Cincy, thru Louisville
I-71/I-64 straight thru, or 264 around the south side?

  • If your travel plans pass through Louisville the first week in May (Ky. Derby Week) you may want to avoid the state. I notice increased expressway traffic thru Cincinnati that week.
  • Ditto...they are rebuilding "spaghetti junction" where 65, 64 and 71 come together, but everything is open. 71 to 64 is the most direct. 264 around town is no bargain at certain times....
  • I live here, what time of the day?

There are numerous ways but if you avoid our small rush hour you can do I-71 South to I-264 W to I-64 W.
  • Use 264. Road construction all around the bridge
  • When I ran the road, trips from Pittsburgh, PA to Evansville, IN went this way...Thru Wheeling, around Columbus, around Cincy, Thru Louisville. Trips south to Nashville meant 265 to 65.

Of course HAZARDOUS loads meant I had to go around the Wheeling tunnel... do NOT remember if Louieville required placards to go around. :h That could effect yoru choices if you can not take propane tanks thru town :E
