I don't think this is true. You can have it inspected at any authorized inspection facility but you will have to pay out of pocket. The import fee payed to RIV includes an inspection by Cdn Tire. Have you been around when they did the inspection? They just check that the tires installed are matched to the GVWR sticker on the trailer and sign off on it. Alberta doesn't even need the inspection any more, they recognize the RVIA standards. Funny thing is, if the RV has LT tires as OEM Cdn Tire will still pass it.
As I said you must pay the import fee and inspection which are done by Canadian Tire,and yes I have been present at those very same inspections.
