Mackinaw City bridge toll on I75?

We are coming in from Sault Ste Marie MI, headed for Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground. We see that there is a toll bridge. Do they take cash? Mail bills by license plate, or do we need some kind of pass before we get there? Thanks!
  • Just stay away on Labor Day as the bridge will now be closed to all traffic except emergency vehicles and busses transporting walkers during the bridge walk.
  • Been across in January and had to hole up in either St. Ignace or Mackinaw City until the bridge opened up. It's ferocious in the winter.
  • Thats true but you'll have to keep your eyes closed the whole time...lol

I've driven semi's across many times. My wife would hide in the sleeper...
  • If you are a little leery about driving across the bridge, they will provide a driver for you for free.
  • They paint the Mighty Mack constantly, used to know a gal who's dad was on the painting crew. 4 season job, it's a huge (and high) bridge. They take cash and I believe credit cards.

If you are leery of heights, don't look down through the deck (it's expanded metal grating) on the suspension part of the bridge or look over the side either. The guard rail is basically a toe rail and it's a Looooong way to the water.
  • There is a toll booth, they take cash. MH $5 per axle , car& suv $2 per axle. Crossed yesterday Motor home towing a jeep. $14. They are painting the bridge one lane each way. But traffic moves pretty good.
