Not at all. Been using MS S&T since 2007. Over 1500 nights & over 100,000 trailer miles.
The method is to create 1 file for plannining the whole trip. For long multi month trips all kinds of time goes into this one. This serves as a foundation & framework.
On the night before each travel day update/create the route for the next day. This also is subject to change.
Next day put the destination into the stand alone GPS & let it get on with it whether you follow its directions or not. No matter what you have something that knows where you want to end up. The primary navigation & figuring out any detours is done on the daily file which is also navigating.
