I am not too sure the S&T GPS will work with the DeLorme Street Atlas. When I upgraded from the 2006 DeLorme version to the 2013 DeLorme version there was a new antenna/USB unit. The old USB unit didn't want to work with the new software. I will say the 2013 version antenna picked up the birds much faster than the old antenna and old software.

I switched to DeLorme Topo (for the Topo) about 5 years ago, but find that I'm still using an eight year old copy of S&T for quick lookups without getting on the Internet.

With net access, I like Apple maps, on phone, pad, or Mac. I have only one Windows device still running (closet full of dead or functionally obsolete PCs and laptops) so haven't been looking for S&T replacements for the last several months.

Not at all. Been using MS S&T since 2007. Over 1500 nights & over 100,000 trailer miles.

The method is to create 1 file for plannining the whole trip. For long multi month trips all kinds of time goes into this one. This serves as a foundation & framework.

On the night before each travel day update/create the route for the next day. This also is subject to change.

Next day put the destination into the stand alone GPS & let it get on with it whether you follow its directions or not. No matter what you have something that knows where you want to end up. The primary navigation & figuring out any detours is done on the daily file which is also navigating.

Like I said it is just me. I have been traveling coast to coast since '67, military service and a lot since retirement with one child out west with grand kids. Now have a grand child in the south west with a great grand, but we have not been there yet. I bet I can get there with an Atlas paper map just fine. I am old fashion I guess. Have a good day.

Base Camp is an amazing program IF you spend some time learning to use the software. There are a ton of tutorial videos on Youtube. Base Camp is not intuitive, and I can almost guarantee you that you most people spend ten minutes with it and give up. But it's worth the effort to learn.

I do all of our mapping on base camp and download the route files to our Garmin GPS.

Watch a tutorial or two on Youtube before you rule out Base Camp.

Also. Base Camp on your computer needs to have the updated maps downloaded, just like the maps on your GPS. They have to match version numbers exactly.

Will the MS S & T GPS work with DeLorme Street Atlas?

I just returned from a trip using S&T 2013. I found myself traveling in empty fields, according to S&T, several times. It is getting more and more out of date.

I have Delorme Street Atlas 2015 Plus but I haven't used it enough to make a judgement. I have heard that the maps have not been updated from the previous version. It does have a good GPS. When S&T was current I liked S&T better than Delorme.

Actually adding a via point to a route is very easy and only takes a couple of seconds once you know how.

I also tried and removed BaseCamp a couple of times when it first came out because it was so odd. But I forced myself to figure it out and it made planning easier in the long run. I have imported all my waypoints and routes into BaseCamp and rarely use anything else now. The one thing I have no use for is the "Trip Planner" utility.
