This is extremely good advise! We just pulled our fiver from Peoria to Clarksville taking I-74 to I-57 to I-24.
The day after Christmas we will run through Nashville just before 7am and then take I-65 down to Montgomery, US RT 231 (divided 4-lane) to I-10, and across to I-75.
If you want a relaxing route that is not much longer, try this one.
The worse roads are I-57 in Illinois but if you have ever traveled some of the interstates in California then you might think you are on new pavement.
