Does anyone know exactly where these crickets are? We were taking I-80 west across Nevada on way to Crater Lake National Park but we sure don't want to run into those. Any information is appreciated. ...

Last week I ran into the red Mormon crickets at Pyramid Lake Nevada next to highway 445 and just northwest of Pelican Point and Windless Bay Beach. They were numerous and I enjoyed squishing them underfoot but had to chase them down.
Good exercise in addition to changing a flat on my heavily loaded Ram 1500. They will sneak up on you. Quite a challenge changing the flat in high heat of the day but I had great help from local Indian named Tolby. I have his number if you ever need assist on Pyramid Lake Indian reservation. Cheers.
