My last two trips were on a motorcycle (sport tourer, 1000cc). Rode from Laredo to Palenque year 2 and Laredo to Acapulco year 1 - about 4,000 miles each trip.
It was great! Scenic mountain roads with no radar or speed enforcement. Warm (sometimes hot) weather with next to no rain.
I was worried about the Africanized bee swarms we had driven through in a pickup previously but I rode through smaller swarms on the bike with just one or two stings (good for arthritus).
Windshield washers at red lights ignore motorcycles and you can lane split in traffic and to the front of the line at customs.
The bad part is topes. Hit at any sort of speed and our heavy bike bottoms out. The wife had (past tense) an MP3 player in her shirt pocket until we hit one unexpected tope out in the country.
