Motorcycle in Mexico - Pros and con?

I dirt bike (motorcycle) / off road and the only concern is Lock Up your bike when you are not on or with your bike. I put a lock thu the rear sprocket and cable lock to a pole (or something permanent). A couple of guys I know (first hand knowledge) have returned from being in a store and found their bike gone. Of course I do the same with our bicycles when we take them out also. I also do the same when out in the desert of the SoutWest USA.
