I think I have the "Mt. St. Helens Vistor Center" (state of Washington) confused with the Johnston Ridge Observatory. The one I am talking about is five miles east of I 5 on Wa 504. We are considering a stop with the camper on the way south on I 5 if it is worthwhile to stop here or to make a day trip without camper from Troutdale, Oregon all the way to the Johnston Ridge Observatory. Thanks,
You are not confused, I was at the visitors center that you have in mind and my previous reply is correct.
To make the day trip can be done, but that's a lot of driving. I stayed near Silver Lake. There are interesting areas on the south side of the mountain, check out the Ape Cave area for example. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIThe official visitor center is on 504 and is called Johnston Ridge. That's where you are headed:

- Fire5erExplorerYour truck will love you more if you leave the Montana down at the bottom of the Mt.
- sdianel_-acct_cExplorerDitto leave the RV at the bottom.
- donn0128Explorer IILeave your RV down the hill in an RV park. Make the mountailpn day trips. Lots better for your phyche
- LynnmorExplorerThey do have RV spaces but you might test the limits with your rig. I would give them a call and ask about the space and if the vegetation may have overgrown the access.
